荷兰莱顿大学George van Driem教授将来我中心讲学

国际著名藏缅语专家、荷兰莱顿大学van Driem教授将来浙江大学访问，并作讲学。van Driem教授曾在喜玛拉雅地区调查过许多语言，并提出了一套关于汉藏语系分类的新方法，在国际汉藏语学界久负盛名。van Driem教授目前正与王士元先生合作，做结合语言和基因数据对东亚语言群体进行分类的工作。

讲学题目和提纲：

The Tibeto-Burman language family and the ancestry of Chinese

The two main competing theories about the linguistic affinity of Chinese, i.e. Tibeto-Burman and Sino-Tibetan, originated in the be ginning of the nine�eenth century. What empirical evidence can compel us to decide between these distinct models of lan guage relationship with divergent implications for the peopling of East Asia? What light have linguistic diversity studies shed on the linguistic position of Chinese, and which of the two theories must be our default hypo thesis? Which questions does the linguistic picture inspire us to put to the archaeological record and ask of population genetic studies?
